The History of Science Society and the European Society for the History of Science will hold their 2026 Joint Meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland, from 12–16 July 2026. The meeting is supported by the British Society for the History of Science.
Held under the theme “Shifting Perspectives: Plural Worlds, Contested Sciences”, the conference will bring together an international community of historians of science for panels, discussions, networking events, and collaborative exchange across a wide range of fields and approaches.
The meeting will take place across several venues in Edinburgh, including the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the Edinburgh Futures Institute, and the National Museum of Scotland. The conference opens with the ESHS Early Career Prize Lectures on the afternoon of Sunday, 12th July.
